Fat Splash is bigger and splashier than ever this year with four summer dates, larger venues, and our first-ever all-ages event! Come cannonball, lounge, and celebrate fat joy in community.

Fat Splash is by and for fat folks. If this sounds like it’s for you, it is! Friends, partners, and chosen fam are welcome too—as long as they show up as true allies.

☀️ About Fat Splash ☀️

Since 2018, Fat Splash has been a vibrant summer gathering for the plus-size and fat community—filled with cannonballs, poolside fun, sunshine (or shade!), and unapologetic joy. For many, it’s the highlight of the season and an annual tradition shared with friends and chosen family.

Whether you come to show off a fabulous swimsuit, soak up the sun, or simply be yourself in a welcoming space, Fat Splash is about joy, connection, and reclaiming the pool.

Fat Splash is a private, fat community event! Come solo or with friends, reconnect with pals, meet new folks, and spot some familiar Cake faces!

☀️ Cake’s 2025 Fat Splash Season ☀️

This year, Fat Splash is headed to bigger venues with more pool features, more room to spread out, and even our first-ever all-ages event—created to be affirming for kids and accessible for parents.

So many Fat Splash faves are returning this year! Nina Perkins will be our photographer once again, and all guests will get access to their photos after the event. We’re thrilled to welcome back Cassandra Snow Tarot and Witch Way Tarot (with more vendors to be announced soon). Plus, by popular demand, our Cannonball Contest is making a splash again, sponsored by Solcana Fitness!

We’re also excited to introduce a Community Support Raffle! Buy a raffle ticket (or multiple!) for a chance to win great gift cards from some of our favorite spots in the Twin Cities, with all proceeds benefiting local nonprofits we love. More details coming soon!

☀️ 2025 Fat Splash Venues ☀️

We’re at new locations this year! We’ve chosen these spots for their generous capacity and the variety of features they offer—think more dynamic water spaces instead of just a simple box pool. With the added space, we anticipate selling more tickets than in previous years and having plenty of room to spread out and enjoy.

Seating + Lounging: Each space offers hundreds of commercial-grade lounge chairs and picnic tables. Lounge chairs are lower to the ground and have listed weight limits of 300 lbs—please use them as you feel comfortable, and feel free to bring your own chairs if you prefer!

Refreshments: This year, traditional pool concessions will be available for purchase at each location. Food is limited to grassy areas and not allowed on the pool deck. Outside food is not permitted, but folks are welcome to bring water bottles (no glass, please!). We’ll share concession menus and prices closer to the events.

Weather/Cancellation PolicyFat Splashes will proceed as planned unless the pool is officially closed due to weather. Unlike in past years, we will not be scheduling rain dates. If an event is canceled, all ticket holders will receive a full refund and are warmly encouraged to join us at a future Splash.

For morning events, we’ll communicate any changes by the night before.
For evening events, updates will be shared by the morning of the event day.

☀️ Ticket Info + Policies ☀️

• Tickets are $26 (including taxes and fees). We’re working very hard to make Fat Splash as affordable as possible this year. This is thanks in large part to our sponsors.

  • For our All Ages Fat Splash ON 6/22:

    • Tickets for kids 2 and under are free.

    • Tickets for kids ages 3-17 are $8.

• Tickets are required for all attendees.

• Tickets will not be sold at the door.

• All ticket sales are final.

• If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your tickets via Eventbrite's website or app to a different date or to a different person. (need to check on this, confirm if we want to allow this again.)

• Tickets are only available through Eventbrite. They are not available in-store or our website. Store credit or gift cards cannot be used to purchase Fat Splash tickets.

• By purchasing tickets, you assume your own risk and liability in attending this event and agree to hold Cake Plus-Size Resale, event venues, and all involved parties harmless.

☀️ Event Guidelines and Reminders ☀️

• No alcohol or drug use.

• No outside food or drink. No glass containers.

• 6/22 is an all-ages event: Parents, please monitor your kids throughout the event.
  If you’re attending without kids, please be mindful of children present.

• 7/12, 7/18, and 8/2 Fat Splashes are 18+ events.

• Clean up after yourself and others.

• Be respectful of the space and everyone present.

• Follow lifeguards’ instructions and be respectful of their authority.

• If you're not fat, please only attend if you're with a fat friend.

• We reserve the right to ask you to leave if you don’t follow these guidelines.

Q: What’s new this year vs. previous years?
A: Here’s what’s staying the same:

• Fat vibes and fun!

Here’s what’s changing:

• More space! More room to spread out and welcome more folks. 

• Music (but no DJs this year).

• Food: Concessions stands at both locations will be available—no outside food, and eating is limited to designated areas.

• No rain dates! If we have bad weather we will cancel the event and you will receive a full refund! 

• All-ages event on 6/22 to bring fat liberation to kiddos and families. 

• No indoor pool this year.

Q: Is the pool accessible?
A: Yes! Both pools have zero-entry access and chair lifts.

Q: Can my non-fat friend or partner come to the party with me?
A: Yes! While Fat Splash centers the joy and community of fat folks, we love when our people bring their people. Friends, partners, and chosen family are welcome—just make sure they’re true fat allies. This means being respectful, supportive, and not making things awkward. No body talk, no creepy vibes, no nonsense. Cool? Cool.
We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the event if exhibiting inappropriate or disrespectful behavior.

Q: I understand there are no refunds, but can I transfer my ticket to another date or to another person?
A: Yes, if you're unable to attend the originally scheduled event, you can potentially transfer your ticket to another Fat Splash. To do this, look for the 'Change ticket' option in your Eventbrite account. (This only applies to General Admission 18+ tickets.) 

Q: What can/should I bring?
A: Suggested packing list:

• Towel - the facilities won’t be providing towels! 

• Water bottle

• Funds for concessions and/or the community raffle

• Seating if you prefer your own chair

Please don’t bring:

• Outside food

• Drugs or alcohol

• Glass containers

• Pool floaties

Q: What health and COVID safety measures are you taking?
A: Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been thoughtful about community care. (As you know, we still require masks inside our small shop.) While masks will not be required at this event, we wanted to loop you in to some of our thoughts around minimizing risk at the Fat Splashes:

• The event space capacities are 1,300 and 1,600 people. Even if we have dynamite ticket sales, we anticipate being at less than 25% of that capacity.  

• Masks are welcome outside of the pool. 

• If you’re not feeling well, please do not come. Our team will abide by the same commitment.

If these guidelines don’t feel right for you, we understand if you won’t be able to join us.
